Vancouver Mountain Guides

We have done 2 climbs with VMG recently, we have never climbed outdoors before, and we are very satisfied with their service.The first climb we did is in light house park in West Vancouver. Before we begin Brent already have ropes and anchors setup, we get to start right away, and we've learnt a lot about outdoor climbing. Also, the sun set view from the cliff is stunning.The second climb we had with VMG is at Squamish, we get to experience crack climbing, it is very different, yet equally fun.

Had an incredible experience on a 2 day multipitch climb with Brent (and his photographer friend, a strong and accomplished climber herself who takes stellar photos!). Brent proved himself to be a patient, experienced, knowledgeable guide who made me feel simultaneously challenged and confident during the entire trip. He was even willing to share his snacks (!), and found the perfect camp site surrounded by incredible views (and a great water source!). I would not hesitate to book another trip with Brent. His experience, knowledge of the mountains and overall positive attitude made my trip unforgettable and a highlight of my year!

Brent guided me up Sky Pilot Mountain this August. All I can say is fantastic. We had a roaring fire the night before the climb and an awesome pancake breakfast on the day. We roped up for the Stadium Glacier and stayed roped from the Pink slab onwards to the summit.The day was exhilarating and I always felt safe and secure. From starting the approach, during the bivouac and throughout the climb Brent was always providing instruction and leadership.If you want to go somewhere safely in the mountains and have a great time I highly recommend Vancouver Mountain Guides.This is an update. Last year I took the AST-1 course through VMG. Top notch online and in field portions. I highly recommend. Maria is a great instructor.

Got an itch to climb the Stawamus Chief, so I booked a private lead with VMG based on the recommendation of Climb On in Squamish, BC. That said, I’d never climbed outdoors before so the plan was to do the Apron and see how things were going.VMG was an amazing company to work with from booking, to making the decision to push for the top, and get there safely. Brent was an amazing guide with a tremendous level of knowledge and the ability to teach. I never felt unsafe and I was able to make it to the top thanks to whole team at VMG.Don’t think outdoor climbing is beyond reach. Book a day with VMG and get outside!

We did the West Lions hike/climb with Brent, and had a great time. Although my group was a little slow, he was always encouraging and congratulating us. The climbing part was very well done. Brent seemed to have plenty of climbing knowledge and skill, and I felt very safe. I would highly recommend using VMG again.

I did a one day Top Roping course with Jake. He was an excellent guide: punctual, courteous, very clear with his explanations and giving instructions, regularly checking if everyone was following and understanding him.For absolute beginners in the world of outdoor climbing, this course is packed with lots of new information. I appreciated that Jake, after giving us instructions, and letting us practice for as long as we needed, would recap everything that we just learned through the hands-on practice.

Brent is one of the best guides I have worked with and I have hired many guides in the U.S. and East Asia! This is my 2nd activity with Vancouver Mountain Guides: 1) Ice climbing Marble Canyon with 4 friends, and 2) Multi-pitch ice climbing the Plum near Pemberton, BC, and I was truly impressed! Working with Brent is like hanging out with a very good friend. I look forward to more adventures with Vancouver Mtn Guides as we thaw from winter.

I had a great time learning the ropes from Brent. He knows his stuff and is a great teacher. I'm super stoked and feeling confident to keep on climbing on in the great outdoors.

What are you waiting for.Vancouver Mountain Guides has exceeded my expectations.After being extremely impressed with the lessons and instructions for Level 1 I decided to go back for Level 2.Low and behold, we got matched up with the master of rock climbing instructor, self proclaimed dancing king himself, Jake.Jake has a wealth of knowledge that he expertly passes on to the class, with clear and concise lessons. After completing the level 2 accelerated course, I am feeling confident in my abilities to go out with my friends and continue to explore rock climbing without relying on a guide. I can't recommend VMG enough. I'm sure i'll be back for Level 3 and beyond in the future.

We did a 1-day private guided ice climb with Brent, and we are SO happy we did! With his knowledge really solid, we felt like we got much more than a few great climbs in. Our group had someone who had never ice climbed before, someone who had once, and an experienced climber interested in ice- so all over the map. He was able to seamlessly guide all of us, and we all had unique experiences. It's also very comforting when venturing into a sport on the more extreme side, to have a guide who is very clearly experienced and puts your safety first. He checked in with us all regularly, and we had a really great time. Would definitely recommend VMG any day and I'm sure we'll be back!
